We got up pretty early this morning, and the first thing I remembered was being in a tent. I forgot where I was, who was with me, or any other recollection of what was going on. It wasn't until I sat up that it hit me like a ton of bricks. I was in "The Retreat" sleeping next to Molly Black. I mean, it was an awkward feeling, but considering how last night went, I don't think it was terrible. I mean, yeah, it seems she hates my guts, and she probably thinks I am the worst survivalist on Earth, but that’s the goal today, is to prove myself an honorable follower. This witch sure didn't pick a hell for me, I think I could manage on this Earth.
I got out of the tent, knowing I was the first one up. I decided to go hunting, hoping that this would prove me worthy of following. I grabbed a large stick, then a sharp rock, and I widdled the stick into a spear. I then took off, hoping that it was still just deer and wolves like back home.
I walked off the trail, towards a small cut down log I could see in the distance. The log was as long as a bus, and nearly twice as wide. It was spectacular. I approached it and waited. Listened for a scratch. Maybe even a jump or a walking sound. Instead I got white noise. So I stayed calm, and I sat behind the bus log.
I waited, watched, listened. And for a while nothing came. Just the eventual squirrel or rabbit, nothing hunt able. Then came the beast...
It was hunt able alright. This thing was 6 feet tall, and largely built. It had shaggy grey fur, and small dagger-like hands. Its face was all teeth, each stretching upwards and downwards in an opposite manner, each one a nice 9 inches. The other noticeable thing was its red eyes. They were deep an luring, as they intensely drew me into them. I wasn't sure whether to go after this giant or let it past and not get myself killed. I decided the latter. I'll let it pass and look for a more innocent victim.
I sat again, sure that I would have to kind of hurry, because of Molly spazzing out when I'm not there. I looked around. I heard something to my left and looked, nothing. Then I looked to my right, in the bushes, staring right at me were the bright red eyes.
The beast jumped, hurdling over rocks at me with incredible speed and finesse. I reacted how I could, and I aimed my spear right at it. It hit the spear and took the blow, making a large deep cut in-between what looked like its ribcage. It missed because of the blow but turned around and came for strike #2. I took my spear, this time aiming for the face, but I missed as the thing ran into me and launched me off the log, throwing me ten feet back. I lost the spear mid fall. I caught my feet, getting up to see the beast coming at me at its enormous speed, and I cowered, then, at the last second, tried dodging him, but to no avail. He tossed me again, this time, nudging me so I flew to the right. I hit a tree and fell. I hit the ground in a daze, this time unable to get up. I was sure to have some cuts and bruises at the end of this, if I survived. I rolled over, not as dazed, and looked around for something to defend myself. To my luck, there was my spear. I grabbed it and looked up to see the beast full sprint, attempting to surely knock me out this time. I took the spear and threw it, with all my might, launching it at the beast, and it hit him. Square in the chest. But it seemed to have no effect. He was still coming full speed.
I braced for impact, ready to see my final moments of The Retreat. I heard a bang, got hit, and I was out...
